After nine dropped cell phone calls to 911 elderly couple dies..

Hey all, OK so yes there is usually something in the news that gets me going but this is just sad on so many levels..

First off the the family of this couple my prayers are with you..

That being said AT& T shame on you. You know when I saw the title to this news story I honestly thought to myself “I bet they had at&t.. ”
But really its a sad story and it should upset you..

Here is a quick run down of what happened and there is a link at the bottom of this post if you want to check it out in detail..
An elderly couple 88 and 89 got stuck in a ditch close to the vacation home they have in a rural area in New Jersey. They tried calling emergency services five times with no success so the man tried to get out of the car. He got stuck between the door and the ground and died of asphyxiation. His wife then made it out of the car and tried four more times to call 911 with no luck. She then walked to a nearby neighbors house but they were not there. She preceded to cover herself with a tarp and died of exposure.

So that’s the skinny.. Here is where I have issues.. Evidently in this area city officials have tried to get att and Verizon to put up a tower or two with no success.. Evidently these two multimillion dollar companies can’t be bothered to put up a tower just because it’s the right thing to do..

I don’t give a damn if it costs the phone companies a couple of dollars. I know what my Verizon bill is and has been every month for 16 years.. The truth is these companies have enough money that it would be no big deal and make rural areas a bit safer.

So why won’t they? It boils down to money.. I feel that is crap.. Look I’m not a fan of att, have you ever looked at a coverage map for them? Looks like swiss cheese for God’s sake. And Verizon your not getting off easy here.. I would expect more from you guys. If there is an area that doesn’t have service throw a damn tower up you selfish bastards then you truly will have full coverage everywhere.

Otherwise guys put a disclaimer on your coverage map that says if you live in a rural area, or if you are a farmer in the country and you want to make a call.. Tough shit, we don’t want to spend the money to cover your area.
